| Back in July-ish, I took my vehicle to a local mechanic to get my AC compressor replaced. I spent 900 or so getting a reman. compressor and kit (including an exp. valve, and drier) including labor. The parts plus labor are warrantied for 1 year. So far, I've had terrible luck and needed to replace them 3 times, 2 with one (re)manufacturer and 1 with another. They've all failed, some within a few months, some within few days. I've lost track. What's worse is he won't tell me which brands he's used. He did say that it's the front seal that keeps leaking. We've both come to the conclusion that I should go with a new compressor, and I'll just pay the difference between the reman and the new part. He quoted me a price of $753 for the part from the dealership. I knew for a fact that I could get it cheaper elsewhere. From Courtesy, which is less than 40 miles away, I was quoted over the phone $602, $150 difference!!! He refuses to deal with Courtesy because if something goes wrong, he doesn't want to get the blame and not have Nissan replace the part. I can pick up the part myself, but if I do, he won't warranty the labor. However, if I pay the full price from his dealership, he will continue to warranty the labor (from the original date). Is $150 worth the 6 months worth of labor warranty? Should I try to get my money back and go somewhere else? If so, can I expect to get all my money back? Is there a way to convince him that he should buy the part from Courtesy to save me some money? Any good (proven) remanufactured brands out there for the Z? I've lost count on how many times my Z's been in the shop for this problem. So frustrating, I just want this to be fixed!
